"To be really open about [mental health] has been helpful for me and inspiring for fans. It takes away the stigma. I love that more people are allowing their vulnerability to be a platform for folks to say it's okay to talk about these things and not feel like they'll be labeled as such or lose their job."

Noell Scaggs, Fitz and the Tantrums

DRIVING ACTION AND IMPACT THROUGH PARTNERSHIP

The 3rd annual SOUND MIND MENTAL HEALTH MUSIC FESTIVAL brought together artists and forward-thinking organizations to create community, foster dialogue, and catalyze social change for mental health during a crucial time in history. The event amplified the voices of artists speaking openly about mental health, and elevated the requisite conversation and culture to break stigma as it exists today.

In addition to live performances, artists shared their own mental health journeys, and experts from leading mental health organizations shared mental health resources, support programs, and tips for self-care. Proceeds from the event benefited regional affiliates of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) — the largest grassroots mental health organization in the U.S. providing free programs and services to people facing mental health issues.

BRINGING HEALING TO OUR COMMUNITY AT A TIME OF GREAT NEED

“The message was important. I was impressed by the extent of attention given to African Americans and mental health!”

“This program is so important to me and to others.
Keep doing this.”

“Thanks for doing this. I brought my stepdaughters, who both suffer from bipolar disorder and OCD. They appreciated listening about other people’s journeys while embracing the music and the community. It is very important to be open and embrace our mental health.”

“Fantastic program! I took my daughter who struggles with depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. We both got a lot out of it, and thoroughly enjoyed the music & speakers.”

“Thank you for bringing my favorite band and mental health awareness together.”
